The Patriot High School Choral Program has five main choirs:

The Director - Matthew D. Netto
Matthew Netto has directed the Vocal Music Program for nine years and has taught high school for 19 years. He serves as the Performing Arts Department Chair at Patriot High School in Jurupa Valley, CA. In addition, Matt serves on the Executive Board of Southern California Vocal Association (SCVA) as the Vice-President I for Honor Choir.
A Northern California native, Matt taught for ten years at Tracy High School Performing Arts Magnet. During his tenure, the choirs grew enrollment by 150% and performed at the Phil Mattson Vocal Jazz Festival in Carnegie Hall (‘04 and ‘07) and in The Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing during the 2008 Olympics. He has taught Choir, Orchestra, Class and Private Piano, Class and Private Voice, Show Choir, Middle School Choir, Jazz Band, and Vocal Jazz. He served as president of the San Joaquin County Music Educators Association, and received the Golden Apple New Educator Award from CTA, and the 9-12 Certificated Employee of the Year for the Tracy Unified School District. He earned a B.M. in Music Education from the University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music under Ruth V. Brittin, and M.M. in Choral Conducting at CSU Fullerton as a student of Dr. Robert Istad and Dr. Christopher Peterson. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, honors society for scholarship in music. In Southern California, Matt was the GTA for the CSUF Men’s Chorus and Concert Choir. He has written program notes and translations for the Long Beach Camerata Singers and the Pacific Chorale. In 2013, the CSUF Women’s Chorus premiered his edition of an excerpt from a Schumann oratorio. In January of 2015, Matt guest conducted the Tracy Unified School District Honor Choir. In 2018, he presented at both the CASMEC Conference and CCDA Southern Region Conference. In the spring of 2019, his choir will sing in the Total Vocal experience lead by Deke Sharon, at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Matt is active as a soloist, back-up singer, clinician, and adjudicator in Southern California and beyond. Matt often sings as a soloist with the Westminster Choir College Summer Choral Festival in Princeton, NJ. At Patriot, his choirs receive superior and excellent ratings at many collegiate invitational festivals, and have performed at Disneyland Candlelight. He has prepared choirs for performance with the Central Valley Youth Symphony, guest conducted at La Honda and Cazadero Music Camps, and was the inaugural conductor for the San Joaquin County Middle School Honor Choir. Beyond his musical credentials, Matt has coordinated and presented staff development in all four arts disciplines (Music, Dance, Theatre, Visual Art) and the technical subjects for both Jurupa Unified School District and Tracy Unified School District. He is a teacher leader for The California Arts Project (TCAP RIMS CAP), one of the nine California Subject Matter Projects. Matt worked for TCAP at the 2014 Collaborative Design Institute creating CCSS, ELA, and VAPA aligned units of study with cadres of arts educators. |
